“Heart Of Youth”was inspired by an amazing guitarist and singer/songwriter named Jon Gomm… I was obsessed with his videos watching his technique for months on end. I went through a phase where I was all about percussive guitar and I wanted to write a tune that incorporated some of his techniques along with my own style of “parapicking”. This song came to be after about 3 months of tossing around ideas and rehearsing non-stop. Haha. To be honest, this was a really lonely time for me and the guitar was my escape from the painful reality that I was dealing with. I had just gone through a breakup and didn’t really know what I was supposed to do with myself so I found my bearings in music. That’s been my direction for nearly 20 years now… This song was recorded in 2014… Shortly after recording the audio and shooting the video, I went into a deep depression and ended up hating the song and scrapped it. I was recently digging through old hard-drives (2019) and found this song and was blown away by it. I had completely forgotten about this puppy. Kind of a pleasant surprise. Please let me know what you think of it.
Heart Of Youth is track number 5 on my latest 12 song album “LIVE”. I’d love for you to pick up a digital copy and check out my life’s work. These songs are inspired by some of my favorite artists like Travis Meeks of Days Of The New, Michael Einziger of Incubus, Jon Gomm, and the amazing guitar duo Rodrigo y Gabriela. Thanks again if you’re reading my Bipolar Blogs. Feel free to leave me a comment and let me know what you think of the songs. Also make sure to check out some of these other artists if you haven’t had the chance.
